Got a Tip?

Keira Knightley Climbs ‘Everest,’ Dakota Fanning Has A ‘Brain On Fire,’ Clive Owen Follows ‘Maggie’s Plan’ & More

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit Keira Knightley

Baltasar Kormákur‘s “Everest” seems to have been in production forever at this point, and the cast keeps growing. Already featuring Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal, Martin Henderson, Emily Watson, Thomas Wright, Sam Worthington and Robin Wright, the film has now added Keira Knightley to its ranks. The movie will tell the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind.  Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival. The 3D movie drops on September 18, 2015. [Daily Mail]

Dakota Fanning will star in the Charlize Theron produced adaptation of “Brain On Fire: My Month Of Madness.” The memoir by Susannah Cahalan “follows a young woman’s terrifying descent into insanity.” No writers or directors attached yet, and this one is still in very early stages. [Deadline]

Felicity Jones, Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley have joined Nicholas Hoult in “Autobahn.” Set to be directed by Eran Creevy (“Welcome To The Punch“), and penned by F. Scott Frazier, the movie follows a backpacker and his girlfriend, who is hired by German drug smugglers and forced to flee on the freeways of the title when a job goes south. Production starts next week. [Deadline]

Anton Yelchin and Megalyn Echikunwoke (“Damsels In Distress“) are pairing up for “Vincent & Roxxy.” The crime thriller follows “a small town loner and a rebellious punk rocker unexpectedly fall in love as they are forced on the run and soon discover violence follows them everywhere.” Gary Michael Schultz wrote and the script and will direct. [THR]

Clive Owen is following “Maggie’s Plan” with Greta Gerwig. The Rebecca Miller directed rom-com follows a love triangle in New York City. Filming will get underway later this year. [Screen Daily]

Taylor Schilling, Adam Scott, Jason Schwartzman and Judith Godreche will get together for “The Overnight.” Details aren’t being revealed about Mark Duplass produced comedy, but Patrick Brice (“Creep“) will direct. [The Wrap]

Andy Garcia has joined the Mattel toy movie “Max Steel.” The movie “chronicles the adventures of 16-year-old Max McGrath and alien companion Steel, who must harness and combine their tremendous new powers to evolve into the superhero Max Steel. As these two unlikely friends struggle to accept their oddly connected fates, they begin to uncover unimaginable secrets, working together to find the truth and fight the mysterious forces threatening their world.” Ben Winchell and Ana Villafane lead the movie with Stewart Hendler (“H+“) directing. [THR]

Connie Britton has replaced Sharon Stone in “American Ultra” starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart. The movie will follow stoner Mike and his girlfriend Phoebe who are forced to go on the run when something from his past returns, forcing him to go on the run from the government, who have set a plan in motion to take him down. “Project X” director Nima Nourizadeh is at the helm, and filming is underway. [Variety]

Lastly, Rob Lowe is clearly making the most of his exit from “Parks & Recreation” by taking a role in toy movie “Monster Trucks.” He joins a lot of other people who should know better — Danny Glover, Jane Levy, Amy Ryan, Lucas Till, Holt McCallany, Thomas Lennon, and Barry Pepper — and plot details are being kept under wraps, probably because they are pretty stupid.
