Years ago, this writer was shown "Wolves of Wall Street," a werewolf movie where no one turned into a werewolf, and there was a scene where one werewolf, still in human form, peed on another man's leg to show dominance and mark his territory. While there's probably no correlation between director Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "Wolves of Wall Street" outside of a similar name, Leonardo DiCaprio is finally back in his marked territory of working with Scorsese and set photos of the production have already arrived online.
Based on Jordan Belfort's memoir about his rise and fall as a New York stockbroker, Terence Winter's script apparently provides plenty of twists and turns, including midget tossing, but the first set photos from the shoot aren't much of a thrill ride unless you just can't get enough of DiCaprio standing in a crowded sidewalk or walking out of a building. Hey, every movie has to start somewhere.
Slightly more shocking, though not any more revealing, are photos of DiCaprio's co-star Matthew McConaughey, who is appearing in the movie as Mark Hanna, Belfort's early mentor. McConaughey has been losing weight for the true-life drama "The Dallas Buyer's Club," where the actor will play Ron Woodruff, a man who contracted AIDS in the mid-'80s and is given only a few months to live. He extended his life through using experimental, underground drugs that were not approved in the U.S. at the time, eventually sharing these with other AIDS sufferers. The gaunt McConaughey walked to set barely able to fill out his clothes and is reportedly dropping the weight via a diet that sticks mostly to liquids (mainly tea) and teaches the body to live off of itself instead. Yikes. Well, one less mouth for craft services to feed, right?
"The Wolf of Wall Street" is expected to open in 2013 and co-stars Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Jake Hoffman, Jon Bernthal, Cristin Milioti, Margot Robbie, Ethan Suplee and Katrina Cas. While McConaughey discussed the difficulties of obtaining financing for 'Dallas Buyer's Club' in June, the project appears to moving forward after "The Wolf of Wall Street," if McConaughey's weight is any guide.
