As the producer of "In Treatment," "Boardwalk Empire" and "Entourage," Mark Wahlberg knows what it takes to be successful on the small screen. And now, he’s taking one of his own movies and developing it for a brand new series. His forgotten about 2007 action thriller "Shooter," directed by Antoine Fuqua, is now being turned into an episodic drama for TNT. No word yet on the plot details, but we presume they won’t be too far off from the movie about a U.S. Marine Scout sniper who gets framed up for murder and has to go on the run. [Deadline]
The unlikely trio of James van der Beek, Bret Easton Ellis and Roger Avary are back together. They upended the "Dawson’s Creek" star’s image with the 2002 effort "The Rules Of Attraction," and now they’re headed together to the U.K. for "Post Empire." The dark comedy will follow "an American Bernie Madoff type in the U.K. as he juggles his investors while his world starts to collapse." Van der Beek will take the lead role. For some reason, a "Married With Children" spinoff series is in the works that will center on Bud Bundy. No word yet if David Faustino will reprise his role, but what else cold he possibly be doing? [THR]
"In Search of a Midnight Kiss" writer/director Alex Holdridge is teaming with Linnea Saasen, his co-director on the recent "Meet Me In Montenegro" (which just premiered at TIFF), for the TV series "Hour Zero." It will be set in post-war Berlin, and the duo apparently already have three seasons mapped out. Promising stuff. [Screen Daily]
