Coming off an outstanding performance in “12 Years A Slave,” one that earned him an Academy Award nomination, there will be no shortage of work for actor Chiwetel Ejiofor. He’s already met with J.J. Abrams, possibly about “Star Wars: Episode VII,” (though potentially about any number of Bad Robot projects) and now he’s being tipped as the main villain in the next James Bond movie.
While no offer has been made yet, and other names are obviously in the mix, Sony and MGM have reportedly been interested in Ejiofor for “Bond 24.” Whether conversations have taken place with director Sam Mendes is unclear, but the actor sure seems like the high-caliber talent the “Skyfall” filmmaker is generally after. Mendes had a great coup scoring Javier Bardem for “Skyfall” and Ejiofor would be a similar triumph, but right now it’s a little early to tell how concrete this is.
Daniel Craig is set to return as Bond and actor Ralph Fiennes recently said the movie is set to begin filming in October. However Variety says the plan is to start shooting this summer as the John Logan-penned “Bond 24” (working title, obviously) is set to be released on Nov. 6, 2015.
