Check Out Cameron Crowe's Handwritten Alternate Titles For 'Almost Famous'

Almost Famous

So, what’s in a name? Probably more than you think. What if “Annie Hall” had been called “Anhedonia” instead? What if “Dr. Strangelove” had been called “Wonderful Bomb? What if “Almost Famous” had been named “Untitled“? Indeed, that was the name Cameron Crowe initially wanted (and used for his alternate cut on DVD) and today we can the various titles the writer/director toyed with before settling on “Almost Famous.”

“I found the notes from our big ‘What are we going to call this movie?’ session towards the end of making ‘Almost Famous.’ A lot of bad alternatives are listed here… luckily, we ended up with one keeper on the list,” Crowe explained to Empire. And we agree, with a lot of titles referencing—too directly—rock ‘n’ roll from the ’70s (though we would’ve loved to see what an exec might think when pitched “Tangerine“). But hey, it all worked out well, and “Almost Famous” really says it all. Take a look below. [The Uncool]
