Does The New 6-Second 'Wolverine' Teaser Ruin A Rumored Cameo?

The Wolverine Logan Viper

It’s one of those mornings. Super hero spoilers left and right! Oh no, what will you do? While there’s no shortage of blogs telling you the second a “Wolverine” trailer will appear weeks in advance, aside from new photos this morning, there haven’t been a ton of marketing materials on the Hugh Jackman-starring super hero film as of yet. At least, certainly not any video. That’s changing fast.

This morning director James Mangold tweeted out a new 6-second teaser on Twitter, using the new Vine technology and if you look closely, you’ll see a spoiler. We’ll discuss below.

What is is exactly? Well, it’s a quick shot of Famke Janssen, and it’s been rumored for months that she would be reprising her role of Jean Grey/Phoenix in “The Wolverine.” The character of course died in “X-Men: The Last Stand,” but presumably she could appear in flashback. The question that fans will mull over, compare screenshots about, debate on Reddit and whatnot is: is this just a quick insert from ‘The Last Stand’ and or did Janssen actually return and shoot new scenes with Jackman? Well, Jackman has already strongly hinted that Grey, or someone from the ‘X3′ cast was coming back so it’s probably her, but we’ll let you guys fuss over that and try not to get into the implications of frickin’ 6 seconds of marketing (lord).

“The Wolverine” also co-stars Tao Okamoto, Svetlana Khodchenkova and Rila Fukushima, but most of the cast are not big names. The film arrives in theaters on June 26th.
