Exclusive: New York Film Festival 50th Anniversary Trailer Highlights An Exciting 2012 Lineup

null2012 seems to be the golden year for some pretty big institutions with both James Bond and The Rolling Stones celebrating five decades of making history. But this week also marks another big occasion as the New York Film Festival rings in its 50th anniversary, with this year's slate of movies possibly being their biggest yet. And with the festival kicking off tomorrow, we've got an exclusive trailer that serves as a fantastic highlight of what's to come over the next few weeks.

For his final bow at the festival after serving a remarkable twenty-five years, festival director Richard Pena has put together a great line-up. Ang Lee's "Life of Pi" makes its world premiere and opens NYFF tomorrow with many more premieres and festival highlights on the slate, including Centerpiece film "Not Fade Away" from David Chase, Robert Zemeckis' Closing Film "Flight," Noah Baumbach's "Frances Ha," Brian De Palma's "Passion," Michael Haneke's "Amour," Leos Carax's "Holy Motors," Olivier Assayas' "Something In The Air" and so much more, including director talks, retrospective screenings and lots for cinephiles to dive into.

The New York Film Festival runs from September 28th through October 14th. Take a look at the trailer and some images of the moviemakers and movies below, including one new photo of "Not Fade Away" and some new behind-the scenes shots. Tickets for NYFF can be purchased here.
