Bond is back on duty in "Skyfall," which is now up and running and set to crush the box office overseas. The 23rd installment in the franchise, arriving on its 50th anniversary, is already earning rave reviews from those who have seen it this far (you can read ours right here) with many calling it one of the best in the franchise ever (though this writer thinks it's kind of mess, but I digress). Nontheless, it's not a shock that the producers want to get as much of the creative team back as they can for the next entries.
John Logan has been re-hired to pen the untitled, under wraps Bond 24 as well as Bond 25. The are a couple of twists: firstly, he'll be penning it solo, with Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (who have worked on five 007 movies, and whose script for "Skyfall" Logan rewrote) exiting the franchise. Even more, the next chapters are said to be part of a two-film arc. Of course, Craig will be back, already confirmed for at least two more outings as Bond (though Idris Elba is apparently already being eyed to take over once he's done). And as per usual, story details are under wraps, though the only tease is that the next entry will feature Bond's "blunt instrument." No, it's not what you're thinking of, pervert…
Keeping the three time Oscar nominated Logan in the fold makes perfect sense, particularly with "Skyfall" so well received. It will also help in attracting a big name director to helm the next movie, with Sam Mendes already indicating he's unlikely to return, having achieved pretty much everything he wanted to do with the secret agent in this movie. So let the wild speculation begin on that front, but fans are at least assured that Bond continues to remain in capable hands, with 007 aiming to return to theaters in fall 2014.
