Got a Tip?

‘Prometheus’ Has Landed: Thrilling, Super-Intense Full Trailer Arrives For Ridley Scott’s Sci-Fi Epic

nullUpdate: The full, 2 1/2 minute trailer has arrived, hot on the theels of its WonderCon premiere. And boy, does it look good. Fox have played their hand, and it seems like a lot's being given away here, but we're sure Sir Ridley & co have plenty up their sleeves to come. Any question of this being an "Alien" prequel or not can be put to rest if you keep your eyes peeled (around the 1:37 mark), but there's a lot here that we're dying to know more about. All being well, it's looking lke a worthy successor to Scott's original. It's the first video below, followed by a new viral video focusing on Michael Fassbender's android character, David, while this morning's spot remains at the bottom. "Prometheus" arrives June 8th: we suggest you cancel any other plans you have

Of all the summer movies due this year, none, not even "The Dark Knight Rises," carries as much weight of expectations from cinephiles as "Prometheus." It's the first science-fiction movie in thirty years from Ridley Scott, the man whose previous entries, "Alien" and "Blade Runner," stand at the very apex of the genre. And as a spiritual successor set in the same universe as the former, the stakes for geeks are even higher.

So far, everything looks like it'll be worth waiting for. A killer teaser trailer arrived before Christmas, and now it's been followed up with a new clip that landed online in the wee hours of this morning (via Digital Spy), which is even more intriguing. Dropping a ton of terrifying, intriguing imagery into a brief 70 seconds or so (again accompanied by the now obligatory "Inception" fart trombone soundtrack), we get a look at more of the cast (which includes Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, Guy Pearce, Sean Harris, Rafe Spall, Kate Dickie and Patrick Wilson), as well as cryptic glimpses of things that we can't wait to see how they fit into the big picture.

Scott's clearly not resting on his laurels: there seems to be an intriguing mix of visual styles, including some almost found-footage clips, and even if the film ends up as a PG-13, it promises to be just as intense as its predecessors. What we're unclear on is whether this is the footage that Scott's set to unveil on Monday: some rumors point to another, full 150 second trailer coming later on today. But we're not actually sure we need to see anything else at this point. "Prometheus" opens in the U.S. on June 8th.
