First Official & Wonderfully Strange Images From Michel Gondry's 'Mood Indigo' Starring Audrey Tautou & Romain Duris

nullIt has been a while since Michel Gondry fans got a film from the director that was, well, Michel Gondry-esque. His last three features have been a documentary ("The Thorn In The Heart"), a mainstream superhero flick ("Green Hornet") and a lo-fi indie ("The We And The I"), the latter two of which found his whimsical flourishes mostly pushed to the sidelines. But as the plethora of set pics from his latest endeavor "Mood Indigo" have revealed, this will be full on Gondry with strange props galore, and now the first official images from the movie give an even closer look at the oddball world he's creating.

Starring Audrey Tautou, Omar Sy, Gad Elmaleh, Charlotte Lebon, Alain Chabat, Aissa Maiga, Philipe Torrenton and Natacha Regnier, the film is based on Boris Vian's 1947 novel, "L'Ecume des jours," and tells the tale of Colin (Duris), the wealthy inventor of an olfactory musical instrument, the pianocktail. He marries Chloe (Tautou), but unfortunately, she falls ill during their honeymoon thanks to a water lily that enters her lung, and the only way to treat the ailment is to surround her with fresh flowers — an expense that soon drains his funds.

Le Monde has unveiled a dozen snaps which reveal that the touches Gondry is known for — minatures, lo-fi effects, a distinct visual palette — will be in full force here. And it also seems he'll have a small role in the movie as well playing Doctor Mangemanche.

Production continues on the movie with more set pics to look at here, here and here. No word on when this will hit the big screen, but we're looking forward to it.nullnullnullnullnullnullnullnullnullnullnull
