#HappyInternationalWomensDay. That should bring out the trolls that are relentlessly against the all-female “Ghostbusters” franchise, right? But to pivot for a moment, in case you forgot (which I kind of did for a second), there’s going to be a “Ghostbusters” animated movie. Yes, like “Spider-Man,” Sony’s approach for their franchises these days is to make an live-action version for adults and an animated version for kids.

It looks like the animated version. While Sony is prepping for the summer release of Paul Feig’s “Ghostbusters,” THR reports that the studio has hired Fletcher Moules, the on-the-rise animator and director behind the popular animated “Clash of Clans” commercial spots, to helm their animated movie.
Sony is obviously still trying to build their "Ghostbusters" cinematic universe, and this is step two beyond the female version opening in July. No plot details, but considering Aykroyd was once incredibly hot to get a “Ghostbusters” film going with the characters played by him, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis, it would not surprise in the least if the animated movies utilized those characters again (and of course can make them any age they want).
And meanwhile, in regular “Ghostbusters” news, a new international trailer has hit and features lots of new footage. Just remember, it’s not a sequel! “I know some people are gonna ask why is it not a sequel instead of a reboot? I didn’t like personally the idea of them being handed technology. Here’s how to do this. I wanna see it developed,” Feig told Slashfilm. “Ghostbusters” hits theaters July 15. Watch the new trailer, with new footage, below.
