It seems Hollywood is in the full blown grip of F. Scott Fitzgerald fever, or they’re at least reading “The Great Gatsby” again. Of course, there is Baz Luhrmann’s ambitious adaptation dropping next month, but if you’re looking to catch up with the source material without having to actually read anything, Jake Gyllenhaal is here to help.
The actor has lent his pipes to a new audiobook edition of the novel that is just the first in what is described as a series of “definitive recordings of the Fitzgerald canon in association with the Fitzgerald Estate.” And yes, this is an official tie-in with the movie, with the audiobook dropping on May 7th — just three days before the multiplex version hits theaters. But we presume this won’t be accompanied by a Jay-Z produced soundtrack.
Take a listen to the samples below and if you dig it, “Tender is the Night” and “The Love of the Last Tycoon” are also in the works — celebrity voices to be determined. [Huffington Post/Digital Spy]
