You can practically feel it, winter is nearing an end and spring is just around the corner. This weekend clocks jump forward, the weather is getting warmer and the snow is beginning to give way to pavement. But Harmony Korine and co. aren’t waiting for Mother Nature to play nice. In a couple of weeks the babe and bikini-filled “Spring Breakers” will come crashing into theaters, and now you can get a bit of an aural preview.
Some tracks by popular EDM dude Skrillex and gifted composer Cliff Martinez have made it online, giving you a nice sense of the mayhem involved. When working on his own, Skrillex’s tracks are more likely to seriously give theater speakers a workout (“Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites,” “With Your Friends (Long Drive)”), but when teaming with Martinez, the material tends to lean closer to the composer’s moodier milieu (“Son Of Scary Monsters”). And raising the roof is “Hangin’ With Da Dopeboys” featuring Dangeruss and none other than James Franco (who based his character on the rapper).
“Spring Breakers” opens in New York and Los Angeles on March 22nd, and goes wide on March 29th. Check out the samples below and stream the whole thing over at Pitchfork.
