Remember the days of pumping quarters into an arcade machine, or even blowing dust off a cartridge to get it to work? Those of us of a certain age certainly do, which is what makes the prospect of the otherwise forward looking "Wreck-It-Ralph" also seem positively quaint. Combining nostalgia for video games with a pretty clever concept, the upcoming Disney movie looks to be something that will hopefully raise the bar a bit from the standard family movie sphere.
A batch of new pics and an international poster have landed for the animated film, giving us a closer look at the unique world being brought to the big screen. Originally entitled "Reboot Ralph," it's the tale of an '80s videogame villain named Wreck-It Ralph (John C. Reilly) who is tired of being the bad-guy against the squeaky clean Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer), so he decides to try his hand at being the hero of another game in the arcade. He hops from game to game, trying his hand at heroics, until he unintentionally unleashes a larger threat that could destroy all of the games. The premise allows for a host of classic and well-known videogame characters to appear, and Disney has seized on the opportunity with Sonic The Hedgehog, Dr. Robotnik, Q-Bert and more all expected to pop up. And that's not all.
As you might recall, electronic musician of the moment Skrillex is contributing music to the movie, and not only that, he'll be making an animated cameo appearance as — get this — a DJ. So that person with the weird, slanted haircut? Yeah, Mom and Dad, that's that Skrillex guy you've been hearing about from your surly teenage kid.
"Wreck-It-Ralph" opens on November 2nd. Check it all out below. [Kinopoisk/RecentMoviePosters/MixMag]
