Johnny Depp To Star In Edgar Wright's Live Action/Animated Adaptation Of Neil Gaiman's 'Fortunately, The Milk'

A few years ago, a rather promising project surfaced that would’ve paired up Johnny Depp and Edgar Wright. The two were attached to team up for "The Night Stalker," Disney‘s big-screen reboot of the 1970s TV movie and subsequent series. Not much has been heard about the project since — but from what we’ve heard, it’s still very much on the table — but Depp and Wright have found another movie to put their talents toward.

THR reports that the pair will bring Neil Gaiman‘s children’s book, "Fortunately, The Milk," to the big screen. Fox is eyeballing the movie, which will be a mix of live action and animation, about a trip to the store to buy some milk that soon turns into a wild adventure. Here’s the book synopsis:

"I bought the milk," said my father. "I walked out of the corner shop, and heard a noise like this: t h u m m t h u m m. I looked up and saw a huge silver disc hovering in the air above Marshall Road."

"Hullo," I said to myself. "That’s not something you see every day. And then something odd happened."

Bret Mckenzie of "Flight Of The Conchords" fame will pen the script. Exciting stuff, but this is probably a bit down the road. Wright has "Baby Driver" next on his plate, though Depp, with"Pirates Of The Caribbean" and "Alice In Wonderland" sequels wrapped, seems to have a bit of an open calendar at the moment, but likely no shortage of material to choose from.
