Robert Rodriguez is busy in casting mode. With "Machete Kills" gearing up to shoot, Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez are already being touted to return, and with "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" now headed for a summer start, it looks like he's starting to get his pieces into play.
Chatting up MTV, Rodriguez revealed that Mickey Rourke (who played the meaty faced Marv) and Rosario Dawson (Gail, the hooker with a heart of gold) are being chatted up to return. "We still have to cast. I'm shooting 'Machete' next month, and we go right into 'Sin City.' It might overlap, but we haven't done any casting yet, except for the people who we know are already in it and returning. 'A Dame to Kill For,' all those people come back," Rodriguez revealed. "I just had lunch with Mickey [Rourke] this weekend. He's all excited to come back, but he's probably the first one. I saw Rosario [Dawson] too. I ran into her for something else, and she's pumped. They've always been excited about doing another one, so that will be fun."
As you might recall, last fall Frank Miller said that the story "Just Another Saturday Night" would be part of the film's narrative, which would mean the inclusion of both Marv and Gail. But there are still some other names to sort out. Alba's Nancy Callahan was said to be the link between "Sin City" and "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" but no mention of her here (though we presume if she's chatting for a role in "Machete Kills" Rodriguez will kill two birds with one stone). Also still up in the air is Clive Owen for the role of Dwight, and it was just last month he told us he had no idea what was going on with the sequel. Though a lot has changed since then.
Scheduling for many of the actors shouldn't be an issue as this will pretty much be entirely shot on green screen like the last film, allowing actors to work their scenes in when time and calendars allow. Likely lots more to come in the following weeks as 'A Dame To Kill For' gears up for production.
