With “Man Of Steel” currently in the midst of production, director Zack Snyder has made a little casting change.
Julia Ormond, originally cast as Superman’s Kryptonian Mom, has been replaced by less well known Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer, reports Deadline. Zurer is probably best well known to stateside audiences for her turns in “Angels & Demons,” “Munich” and “Vantage Point” and she also has a role in Lawrence Kasdan‘s forthcoming “Darling Companion.” No reason has been given why Ormond has left the movie, though maybe she balked at wearing a mo-cap suit or something.
At any rate, this will likely be Zurer’s biggest exposure to worldwide audiences to date and will get to share screen time with Russell Crowe as Jor-El so that ain’t too shabby. She’ll be joining a pretty heavy duty ensemble cast that includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Harry Lennix, Christopher Meloni and Laurence Fishburne. “Man Of Steel” will fly into theaters on June 14, 2013.
