A couple of brewing horror flicks received some little updates today, so genre film fans take note.
First up, the remake of “Pet Sematary” that no one wants continues to move forward at Paramount. Back in February, the long-developing project got a boost when writer Matthew Greenberg (“1408”) was hired on to get in a script in the works. Well, it appears the suits are happy and directors are being sought, and the first name to crop up? Alexandre Aja.
The name isn’t surprising considering the man has become something of a remake specialist helming “Piranha 3D” and “The Hills Have Eyes.” He’s also the most boring choice we could possibly think of. Whether or not he takes the project will likely depend on where his developing “Cobra: The Space Pirate” is in terms of finding financing. He’s also executive producing another remake of sorts, the television series “Scanners” based on David Cronenberg‘s film and again, if that picks up steam he may be too busy to tackle “Pet Sematary” so leave it as a question mark for now.
Meanwhile, in news that will make faphappy geeks groan and sigh with joy, Katrina Bowden, the “30 Rock” star and recently named Sexiest Woman Alive by Esquire, has joined the gestating horror flick “Nurse 3D.” The film has been the topic of conversation lately mostly because the film’s star, Paz De La Huerta, got naked for the poster. Sorry boys, no nude Bowden just yet, but she’ll be co-starring in the film as one of the nurses who lure unfaithful men to their death. Douglas Aarniokoski (“Highlander: Endgame“) directs and filming kicks off next month. [Twitch/Deadline]
