Watch: New Trailer And 3 Clips From ‘Woman In Gold’ Starring Ryan Reynolds And Helen Mirren

Woman In GoldWoman in Gold” is an awards campaign that runs itself. An inspirational true story of an Austrian woman who longs to be reunited with five paintings that were seized by Nazis during the war, and eventually ended up in the hands of the Austrian government. Did we mention that Helen Mirren plays the underdog at the heart of the story? In case you need more proof of the film’s triumphant bonafides, The Weinstein Company has released a new online trailer and three clips.

First up, is a new trailer that lasts just over a minute long and doesn’t do much in the way of new footage, but does set up the plot of the film nicely. Next up are three clips. The first couple feature Mirren trying to convince Ryan Reynolds to help her fight the Austrian government, insisting that returning the paintings to her is a matter of principle, and their shared Austrian origins, rather than one of monetary gain. And last, we jump ahead to the court case that determines the fate of the paintings.

If you get a bit of a “Philomena” vibe from the clips and trailer, know that you’re not alone, as our review noted the similarities and ended up preferring the 2013 Stephen Frears film, giving this film a D. You’ll be able to compare the two films yourself soon when “Woman in Gold” opens April 1st. Watch the trailer and clips below.
