Two of these names are not like the other. While Pierce Brosnan spent years in the role of James Bond and has done his share of genre flicks (like last year’s "The November Man"), Owen Wilson and Lake Bell don’t come immediately to mind with respect to action thrillers. But they’re giving it a shot in "No Escape" (formerly known as "The Coup"), and the first trailer is here.
Directed by John Erick Dowdle ("Quarantine," "Devil" —make of that what you will), the story follows an American businessman who moves his family to Southeast Asia only to get caught up in a violent uprising. They must go on the run from dangerous Foreign People, in what looks like an insipid and vaguely offensive movie (we’re not sure it’s smart enough to be actually offensive). And tossing a child in the mix seems like a cheap way to add drama and stakes, but hey, maybe this will be secretly awesome….
…oh wait, it’s opening on the dumping ground of September 2nd. Probably not. Watch below.
