With Disney busy cranking out movies from the Marvel machine, doing live-action reboots of their animated classics, and preparing years and years worth of "Star Wars" movies, it’s nice to know they still have room for original movies. Especially when it’s a movie from someone like Brad Bird. The director behind "The Incredibles," "Ratatouille," and "Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol" has a futuristic new flick on the way, and details have been served out in small portions thus far. But today we get another peek with a big game day spot.
George Clooney and Britt Robertson are the leads in this tale, co-written by Bird and Damon Lindelof, about the unlikely pairing of older scientist with a teenage girl, and the mysterious, titular place. Here’s the official synopsis:
From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s riveting, mystery adventure “Tomorrowland,” starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world — and them — forever.
Co-starring Hugh Laurie, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key, and Thomas Robinson, "Tomorrowland" arrives on May 22nd. Watch below.
