While the Sundance Film Festival seems like a distant memory, one film we can’t stop talking about is “Frank.” One of the best films we saw in Park City, and a definite highlight among our writers on the ground, the Michael Fassbender-starring musical comedy is a distinct, odd, unique and highly entertaining take on being a musician and the process of creating art. And now we’ve got a batch of new images to take you further inside the zany world of the movie.
Co-starring Domhnall Gleeson, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Scoot McNairy, the Lenny Abrahamson-directed film tells the story of Jon, an aspiring musician, who finds himself assigned the keyboard player of cult band Soronprfbs, led by the mysterious Frank (played by Fassbender, with a papier-mache head covering his face). He goes with the band on a retreat to write and record their new album, and it’s a journey he won’t soon forget. The end result is an effort that we called a “terrific and sublime experience” and “mandatory watching for the adventurous viewer.”
Magnolia Pictures has the rights to “Frank,” but no release date has been set just yet. Check out pics from the film below.
