A project that was once set up as a possible film for Jonathan Demme, it fell apart a few years ago, and not much as been heard from it since. But it seems originally attached stars Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro still want to make "Honeymoon With Harry" happen. Today, Dan Fogelman ("Crazy Stupid Love") was tasked with rewriting the script, and it has emerged that Cooper has an eye on directing the movie himself. The story follows an alcoholic (Cooper) who reforms his ways after falling in love with a girl. When she dies on the eve of their wedding, he relapses, crossing paths with her father (De Niro) on the honeymoon they should have taken. A bit contrived perhaps, but given their chemistry, as seen already in "Limitless" and in particular "Silver Linings Playbook," this could work. [Deadline]
Well, this keeps getting better. With Casey Affleck replacing Matt Damon, now Michelle Williams has signed up for Kenneth Lonergan‘s "Manchester-By-The-Sea." The story follows "a ne’er-do-well plumber (Affleck) in Boston who is forced to return home to the titular town after he learns his brother passed away. There, he finds himself thrust into the care of the man’s 16-year-old son but finds himself crumbling due to a secret tragedy in his past." Williams will play Affleck’s wife, and this will go in front of cameras in the spring. [THR]
Aubrey Plaza will take a wild ride with Zac Efron and Robert De Niro in "Dirty Grandpa." This is actually so dumb it sounds kind of great, with the plot that centers on "an uptight twenty-something (Efron) who embarks on a road trip before his wedding to bond with his recently widowed grandfather (De Niro) only to find that his grandpa is a foul-mouthed lunatic on a mission to get laid during Spring Break." It looks like Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will join Margot Robbie and Tina Fey in "Taliban Shuffle." Glenn Ficarra and John Requa direct this one about a journalist who arrives as a fish out of water in Kabul. [Showbiz 411]

Based on his own novel, "the story is set in a block of flats on a council estate. With the lift constantly out of order, this leads to a number of encounters between the inhabitants of the building: old Sternkowitz and his nurse, Jeanne, a retired actress, young Charly, McKenzie the astronaut and Mrs Hamida. The one thing they all have in common is their loneliness. Matthias Schoenaerts has joined Eddie Redmayne, Alicia Vikander, and Amber Heard in Tom Hooper’s "The Danish Girl." The long developing movie tells the story of "one of the first man ever to undergo operations to become a woman." [Deadline]
Bruce Willis will star in an adaptation of Elmore Leonard‘s "Bandits." He’ll play "an ex-con who is struggling to stay on the straight path as he dresses up corpses as a mortician in his brother’s funeral home. Things get much more exciting for him when he meets a gorgeous lapsed nun who is just back from Nicaragua where she took care of lepers and tried to keep the contras from hacking them up with machetes. She wants to smuggle a beautiful young Nicaraguan woman – who contracted leprosy–because the woman’s ex-lover, a Somoza-type colonel, wants to kill her for possibly infecting him. That same guy is raising millions from rich Americans to take back to the contras and the bored mortician finds his own cause, stiffing the colonel and getting away with a fortune with the help of the nun and an ex-cop."
