Got a Tip?

Charlie Hunnam Out, Casey Affleck In For ‘Triple Nine’; Chiwetel Ejiofor & Michael B. Jordan Also Join

It’s been brewing for a while, but John Hillcoat‘s cop thriller “Triple Nine” is slowly but surely putting together a helluva cast. Over the summer, Cate Blanchett, Christoph Waltz and Charlie Hunnam all got involved, and while one has been lost since, more exciting choices have come aboard.

Casey Affleck is now subbing in for Hunnam (who had originally replaced Shia LaBeouf), as two of the year’s hottest actors—”12 Years A Slave” star Chiewtel Ejiofor and “Fruitvale Station” lead Michael B. Jordan—are now in talks for the picture. The Black List approved script by Matt Cook centers on a group of crooked L.A. police officers who realize they must shoot one of their own in order to get away with planning a major heist. They choose as their victim a rookie and honorable young officer, which will be Affleck’s role (kinda perfect casting). Ejiofor will play a career criminal behind the heist, with Jordan as a cop who has infiltrated the gang, and is working with Affleck on a set up. Damn.

Nick Cave is likely going to reteam with Hillcoat to score the film, with production on the Annapurna flick expected to begin next year. It looks like everything is finally coming together on this, and we can’t wait to see what this cast does with the material. [The Wrap]
