Edgar Wright's 'The World's End' To Possibly Feature Dance Sequence & Zombies

nullHere's what we know so far about Edgar Wright's "The World's End": it's the final chapter of the Cornetto Trilogy. It stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Rosamund Pike, Martin Freeman and Eddie Marsan. And the story involves friends who reunite after twenty years to go on an epic pub crawl, only for the fate of humankind to somehow cross their paths. And with production currently underway, a few more intriguing morsels about the film have emerged.

The folks over at Bleeding Cool have been tracking the progress of the movie on Twitter, and picked up on a couple tweets by actor Thomas Matthews that said: "1st day filming The World's End – suitably heading for Zone 8….Have no idea what I'll be asked to do but everyone else learning dance routine. Exciting." But there's a bit of an interesting twist.

Actress Courtney Cornfield has also been tweeting, revealing over the past few days: "just had a wardrobe fitting for The World's End #dancingzombie #simonpegg…just waiting to hear where and what time this zombie is required on set…All geared up to be a dancing zombie. Filming the World's End this week #cornetto." And finally: "My new book title "from cat in the hat to zombie" a mother's tail. (I was cat in the hat for halloween and now filming as zombie)"

So, is Wright returning to zombies from "Shaun Of The Dead"? Are they just part of a bigger problem the boys will face this time around? What's the deal with the musical sequence? Well, actually, Wright is a big fan of the genre and, in case you missed it, a couple of years ago he wrote a feature for The Playlist about his Top 10 Favorite Musicals (read it here). So we're definitely curious to see what he'll do with the format.

Lastly, Film Music Reporter reveals that Steven Price will be scoring the movie. Though not a household name, he tuned up the Wright-produced "Attack The Block" last year and he also provided the score for Alfonso Cuaron's forthcoming "Gravity." At any rate, a lot to look forward to when "The World's End" opens on October 25, 2013.
