Can opinions be changed by a single image? That might be pushing it just a bit, but in the case of "The Lone Ranger," the adaptation of the ancient, wholesome western TV show, we have to say we like what we see.
With the the film now shooting, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has tweeted the first look at Armie Hammer as the titular hero and Johnny Depp as his sidekick Tonto, and it's pretty solid. Hammer nicely saddles up, five o'clock shadow and all, into the lead role while Depp once again dives into the dress up kit over at Disney to outfit himself as Tonto. Of course, the performances and tone will make or break this one, but the duo definitely at least look the part.
As for what we can expect, Hammer recently told us: "There are no miracles, and there are no shapeshifters," he said, referring to rumors about the script. "More than anything else, this is a fantastic adventure and a buddy comedy. It's more about the relationship between Tonto and the Lone Ranger, and the way they help each other."
Co-starring William Fichtner, Tom Wilkinson, Ruth Wilson, Helena Bonham Carter and James Badge Dale, "The Lone Ranger" will ride on May 31, 2013.
