First Looks At Beast In 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past' & Dane DeHaan In Metallica Movie, Plus New Still From 'A Field In England'

We knew that “X-Men: Days of Future Past
would be hopping between different time periods due to the nature of the story,
but we didn’t know what those time periods would be. Well, we still don’t
entirely (will the present-day stuff be pre or post “X-Men: The Last Stand”?),
but we now know for certain that at least some of the film will be set in the
‘70s thanks to a new tweeted pic of a young Beast and age-unknown Wolverine
together. It’s a pretty cool image and the ‘70s costumes look pretty
great…although of course Logan’s still sporting that timeless jacket of his.
This thing could still be an unwieldy mess, but we can’t help but be impressed
by what Singer’s shown us so far. [Facebook]

Completely different, and from a completely
different period – the 17th Century, no less – is a new image from
Ben Wheatley’s fourth feature, “A Field in England.” Pictured is Reece
Shearsmith
, who takes the lead role in what’s being described as Wheatley’s
“psychedelic trip into magic and madness” amidst the English Civil War. Basically
we’re going to see English Civil War deserters tripping on mushrooms and the inevitable
fallout from that, and if the stills we’re seeing are anything to go by the
film’s going to have an interesting and distinct visual style. The film will
make its bow in the UK on July 5th, and was recently acquired by
Drafthouse Films
for a planned US release later this year. [Mr. And Mrs Wheatley]

And finally, we’ve also got a first look at
Nimrod Antal’s “Metallica Through The Never,” featuring the soon to be enormous
star Dane DeHaan. The “Chronicle” and future Harry Osborn actor can be seen
here as one of the titular band’s crew members who’s sent out on a mission by
the band through a sold-out arena whilst they play on-stage. The film will
marry concert footage with a fictional narrative involving DeHaan’s character
who “unexpectedly has his life turned completely upside down” during his
mission. Sounds fascinating, and it’s a top piece of casting, so color us
intrigued for this one. [EW]dane dehaan, Metallica: through the never
