Well, the inevitable news has officially arrived. With the showrunners signed up through season six already, talk of a movie, and chatter starting up about the road to the finale in season eight, HBO has made it official that for now, there are definitely two more seasons of “Game of Thrones” coming.
The cable company has announced that it has renewed the smash hit fantasy show for seasons five and six. “ ‘Game Of Thrones’ is a phenomenon like no other,” said HBO President of Programming Michael Lombardo. “David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with their talented collaborators, continue to surpass themselves, and we look forward to more of their dazzling storytelling.”
Indeed, the show had a whopping 6.6 million viewers on Sunday night for the fourth season premiere, up from 4.4 million from season three. And those viewers show no sign of getting smaller any time soon, and clearly, “Game of Thrones” is on the top run priority for the HBO. So rest assured, there’s a lot more from Westeros to come.
