That “Resident Evil” is getting a sixth movie in its franchise should come as no surprise to anyone, given that the fifth one somehow managed to gross over $200 million worldwide, the second best tally in the series so far. The real question is which franchise will eventually stop making movies first? “Fast and Furious” or “Resident Evil”? There appears to be no end in sight for either.
That the latest installment is coming to pass surely comes as no surprise to Paul W.S. Anderson who had a story mapped out for a sixth “Resident Evil” before he even started the fourth. While we don’t have any details regarding what the sixth film will be about, but we imagine it’ll involve his wife kicking tons of asses. Until the newly stamped release date of September 12th, 2014 arrives, speculate away.
In other sequel news, filming has already begun on the sequel to “Insidious.” The director of the first film, James Wan, has returned as well as the core cast which includes Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, and Ty Simpkins. “Insidious 2” will get your Halloween started early, dropping into cinemas on September 20th of this year via FilmDistrict.
