It Keeps Getting Better: Oscar Nominee Octavia Spencer Joins Bong Joon-Ho's 'Snow Piercer'

nullFor his English language debut, Bong Joon-Ho is certainly stacking the deck to make sure he doesn't fuck it up. With a cast that already includes Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, John Hurt and Song Kang-Ho, he's gone ahead and added to the already fantastic ensemble by signing on an actress who might just be walking away with an Oscar in the coming weeks.

"The Help" star Octavia Spencer is the latest to come aboard "Snow Piercer," a film that is easily one of our most anticipated pictures for next year. Based on a French graphic novel called "La Transperceneige," and recently given a fresh draft by "Before The Devil Knows Your Dead" scribe Kelly Masterson, the story is set in an icy, apocalyptic future, on board a train of survivors (powered by a perpetual motion machine, of course) divided into carriages by their class, where a revolution begins to brew. Spencer will play a mother who takes up with the cause in order to rescue her son.

Sounds like a nice, huge swing from her role in "The Help" and we're fascinated to see this one come together. But before she gets to "Snow Piercer" this April, Spencer will shoot Diablo Cody's formerly titled "Lamb Of God" in March. That's quite the one-two punch. [THR]
