Miley Cyrus To Play Bonnie In 'Bonnie & Clyde' Miniseries For Lifetime & History Channel

nullWhen Hilary Duff was dumped from the brewing "The Story Of Bonnie & Clyde" last year, we dodged one bullet of having the Arthur Penn classic starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway dumped on by a cheapie production leveraging a former child star into the lead for their first "adult role." Well leave it to the Lifetime and History channels to pick up where that left off with their own movie, which once again will use some stunt casting to get some attention.

Following Lindsay Lohan playing Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming "Liz & Dick," former Disney channel star and "Party In The U.S.A." enthusiast Miley Cyrus is in talks to be all grown up and shit or something playing Bonnie in the four-hour miniseries "Bonnie & Clyde." Penned by John Rice and Joe Bateer (the pair wrote "Windtalkers" and "Blown Away"), not many details are available except that it will chronicle the true tale of the real life outlaws, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. To put this all in perspective, Storyline Entertainment are producing. What else are they working on? A biopic on Anna Nicole Smith for Lifetime, naturally.

Of course, History scored a big hit this summer with the mini "Hatfields & McCoys" but let's not pretend this will be approaching the respectability of that effort. The Lifetime/History pairing is merely being done to make sure every gender demographic is covered for the marketing. So now let's see who will be paired up to play with Cyrus in this, and let's weep for a generation of people who will watch this before the 1967 original. [Deadline]
