Got a Tip?

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Makes AFI’s Top 10 Of The Year, But No Sign Of ‘The Master’

nullMore rankings! As Oscar prognosticators puzzle, fret and worry over each top ten list that drops, a few patterns are becoming clear — firstly, everyone loves "Zero Dark Thirty." And secondly, it looks like outside of a couple of categories, Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" won't be making much of a mark on the Oscar race. And indeed, the AFI shut it out entirely.

The American Film Institute announced their selections today for the best of 2012 in television and film and before the complaints start, "Amour" and "Skyfall" weren't eligible because duh, they are not American productions (though we wonder how the U.K. backed "Les Miserables" made it on here). Anyway, among the big titles they are hardly any surprises, though the lack of any indie-distributed films (outside the indie majors) is a bit of drag. As for the TV list, it's pretty much all of your favorite shows. So yeah, nothing really groundbreaking here at all.

AFI will honor the creatives with some lunch on January 11, 2013. Let us know your thoughts on this below.
