After plenty of rumors last week that the 70mm cut of Quentin Tarantino‘s “The Hateful Eight” would not be available as widely as initially promised, the film’s distributor made a big announcement today.
The Weinstein Company have revealed that the roadshow cut will hit 100 theaters in 44 markets on Christmas Day. This is the version that comes complete with an overture and intermission, and it will only screen for two weeks. In fact, it will be the only cut available for the first week of release, before the slightly shorter theatrical cut goes wide on January 1st. Even more, for the next twelve days, prizes will be available to fans who purchase advance tickets (go here to book yours).
This is the widest release for a 70mm film in 20 years, so go here to find out if the analog experience will be playing near you.
