Got a Tip?

Watch: First Teaser Trailer For Pedro Almodovar’s ‘I’m So Excited’ Breaks Out Into Song & Dance

nullPedro Almodovar's last few films include the twisty, underrated genre exercise "The Skin I Live," the meta ode to cinema "Broken Embraces," the lush "Volver" and the tough "Bad Education." No wonder he just wants to have a laugh. Next year, the Spanish auteur will drop "I'm So Excited," and if you had any doubt that it would involve The Pointer Sisters on some level, you can put your mind at ease.

The first teaser is here, and it's essentially a full-on routine to the titular song, with some funny face expressions throw into the mix. Said to be a comedy in the vein of Almodóvar's early films, plot details are under wraps, but it's an ensemble comedy set against a plane accident with various characters fearing for their lives and confessing their inner secrets. And dancing, apparently. Cinematographer Jose Luis Alcaine ("Volver," "The Skin I Live In") will once again lens the picture, making it his sixth collaboration with the Spanish auteur, while the massive cast features: Javier Cámara, Cecilia Roth, Lola Dueñas, Raul Arévalo, Carlos Areces, Antonio de la Torre, Hugo Silva, Willy Toledo, Miguel Ángel Silvestre, Blanca Suárez, José Luis Torrijo, José María Yazpik, and Laya Martí, with cameos from Penélope Cruz, Antonio Banderas and Paz Vega

It all looks like a pretty spirited, colorful romp and we would expect nothing less. The picture opens next spring in Spain and Sony Pictures Classics will drop it stateside but have not yet set a date. Watch below. [The Film Stage/Kinopoisk]
