In addition to being a fine actress, Evan Rachel Wood has got a solid set of pipes. Having already shown them off in "Across The Universe," it's not a surprise she was in the running to play Eponine in "Les Miserables" (the role eventually went to Brit reality TV star Samantha Banks) and while we'll have to wait for another opportunity to hear her sing in a film, this will do for now.
Wood has lent her vocal chords to the album Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International, offering up a cover of "I'd Have You Anytime." Calling it a Bob Dylan tune is a bit misleading, as it was co-written with George Harrison and is more his song, appearing on the seminal All Things Must Pass. Wood's version takes the song into smokey jazz territory, which is something Harrison would have appreciated according to his friend Terry Gilliam. "George loved Hoagy Carmichael. I kept pushing him to do an album of his renditions of Carmichael songs. Of course he never listened to me. Pity, he could have been famous," Gilliam joked.
