Anthony Hopkins Says He's Been Courted By Angelina Jolie For 'Churchill And Roosevelt'

With Angelina Jolie making her first stride into directing with her feature film debut, the currently untitled Bosnian war romance, it looks like the actress is ready to take a much bigger role behind the camera. During the press rounds for this weekend’s “Thor,” Odin himself revealed that Jolie has another project brewing and is already going out to actors with the material.

“I might work with Angelina Jolie on ‘Churchill and Roosevelt,'” Anthony Hopkins told MTV. “She’s got a thing about Churchill. Angelina sent me a synopsis of the script yesterday, so that’s in the offering as well.”

Of course, we needn’t tell you how closely the leaders worked together during World War II and the stuff pretty much writes itself in terms of a movie. But aside from that, details are pretty slim. There’s no word of what Jolie’s part in this might be — producer and director? actress? — and even Hopkins himself hasn’t decided just yet.

“I don’t know, I’d have to put on some weight to play Churchill,” he joked. “I’ve just taken the weight off, I’d have to put it back on again.” And as for Roosevelt, that part is still up in the air with Hopkins saying, “She’s looking for somebody to play Roosevelt, I don’t know who yet.”

So yeah, very early days, but clearly a project that is trying to get a cast together…perhaps in time to take to market at Cannes next week? Guess we’ll find out in the next few days.
