While "The Hangover" turned Zach Galifianakis from cult comedian to mainstream star overnight, he’s always been uncomfortable with the franchise, and keenly aware that the follow-ups didn’t exactly live up to expectations. In his "Between Two Ferns" episode with Barack Obama a couple years back, he even let The President take a swing at "The Hangover Part III." And now the actor is coming clean and admitting what we knew all along — there only ever needed to be a single "The Hangover" movie.
“Look, that was a good chunk of my life that I do not regret at all, but I wished we had just done one,” he told Marc Maron on WTF. “I think leave well enough alone sometimes.
“We’re contracted up to 12. I feel a real appetite out there for more," Galifianakis joked. “I mean, in 10 years when all this dries up, I’m sure I’ll be knocking on people’s doors, ‘Hey, I got this idea… look, I’m still weird!’” And in this era of nostalgia, and no-idea-is-a-bad-idea, I would hardly be surprised if Warner Bros. does figure out a way to extend that hugely successful, record-breaking, R-rated brand.
Listen to Galifianakis’ talk with Maron below; the actor’s new series, "Baskets," is now airing on FX. [via Yahoo]
