"I Wished We Had Just Done One": Zach Galifianakis Talks 'The Hangover' Movies

nullWhile "The Hangover" turned Zach Galifianakis from cult comedian to mainstream star overnight, he’s always been uncomfortable with the franchise, and keenly aware that the follow-ups didn’t exactly live up to expectations. In his "Between Two Ferns" episode with Barack Obama a couple years back, he even let The President take a swing at "The Hangover Part III." And now the actor is coming clean and admitting what we knew all along — there only ever needed to be a single "The Hangover" movie.

“Look, that was a good chunk of my life that I do not regret at all, but I wished we had just done one,” he told Marc Maron on WTF. “I think leave well enough alone sometimes.

“We’re contracted up to 12. I feel a real appetite out there for more," Galifianakis joked. “I mean, in 10 years when all this dries up, I’m sure I’ll be knocking on people’s doors, ‘Hey, I got this idea… look, I’m still weird!’” And in this era of nostalgia, and no-idea-is-a-bad-idea, I would hardly be surprised if Warner Bros. does figure out a way to extend that hugely successful, record-breaking, R-rated brand.

Listen to Galifianakis’ talk with Maron below; the actor’s new series, "Baskets," is now airing on FX. [via Yahoo]
