Marvel And Sony Reportedly Can't Agree On Who Should Be The New Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-ManAs fans have been rejoicing about Spider-Man returning to Marvel, which apparently means everyone will get the reboot they’ve been dreaming of, even though the comic studio has already stated they’ll be putting Peter Parker back in high school again. Some have forgotten, however, that Sony still has a say in what happens, and apparently from the start the studios can’t seem to agree on who should sling webs.

On today’s Meet The Movie Press, The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider revealed that Asa Butterfield was out of the running for the role (which may be partially due to him talking about the part before he had it), and that the race is now down to two names: Tom Holland (“The Impossible”) and Charlie Plummer ("Boardwalk Empire"). The tricky part? Sony wants the former and Marvel wants the latter, though there’s no word on why they have a difference of opinion on the matter.
