Patton Oswalt Puts On A Badge For 'Justified' & Olivia Munn Set For Stint On 'New Girl'

nullWith the fall TV season upon us, shows are either preparing for their mid-season or late-season arrivals, or adding guest stars to boost ratings. Two such guest stars are Patton Oswalt and Olivia Munn, both of whom will be appearing on the small screen this upcoming TV season.

Oswalt is joining the fourth season of FX's crime drama "Justified," based on Elmore Leonard's U.S. Marshall character of Raylan Givens, which the author has used in several novels and a short story. Oswalt will reportedly recur as "local constable" Bob Sweeney, who went to high school with Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) and enjoys relating the same football story over and over again. Oswalt will be mostly watching over the house of Raylan's father, Arlo, but will also help to bring a bail jumper to justice.

No word on how long Oswalt's run on "Justified" will be, but as production begins shortly in Santa Monica, CA, (doubt we're shattering any illusions, but the show is not actually shot in Harlan County, Kentucky) more details may come to light. Expect the fourth season to arrive sometime early next year.

Munn, on the other hand, is already appearing on television — or HBO, anyway — on "The Newsroom," but will be heading over to Fox to shoot a few episodes of "New Girl" as well. The "Magic Mike" star will guest as a "sexy, earthy, charming" love interest for Nick (Jake Johnson), and will apparently be able to hold her own with the group. Of course, she won't be able to hold her own for long, so expect the love affair to end quickly, as they often do on sitcoms.

Munn will shoot her "New Girl" episodes before starting work on the second season of "The Newsroom," which was renewed for another season seemingly to torment The Playlist staff, who will no doubt endeavor to watch the second season in spite of their misgivings about the freshman season.
