'The Fault In Our Stars' Director Josh Boone To Helm 'X-Men' Spinoff 'The New Mutants'

New Mutants, Josh BooneThe word on the street lately is that following "X-Men: Apocalypse" next year, Bryan Singer‘s X-Men saga would be drawing to a close after 16 years. What that means precisely is not entirely clear, except that Fox may not exactly be rebooting their franchise, but might pivot in a new direction. And this latest bit of news bears that out.

Deadline reports that "The Fault In Our Stars" director Josh Boone will write and direct "The New Mutants." For those of you not up on your Marvel Comics lore (like me), the New Mutants are essentially a teenage version of the X-Men. But don’t get too excited just yet, because this project is a long way off. Boone will next direct "The Vampire Chronicles" at Universal, followed by his epic four-hour version of Stephen King‘s"The Stand," so "The New Mutants" is definitely a more than a few years away. And in an interesting side note, the site says that Boone is being eyed by Marvel and Sony for "Spider-Man: The New Avenger" (or whatever it will be called). But given this crowded slate, that seems unlikely.

So, while we wait for more news, what characters do you want to see? Can Boone do this right? Let us know below.
