It’s been eight years since Marcus Nispel‘s dreary reboot or whatever of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” that was only really notable for greasing up a young Jessica Biel, putting her in tight jeans and tank top and having her run around screaming her head off. Well, enough time has passed that a new batch of teenagers haven’t had the horror classic ruined for them yet, so along comes “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D” and, another young woman who will likely find her top ripped and soaking wet.
Variety reports that Alexandra Daddario — best known for her role in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” and who appeared earlier this year as hot babysitter in “Hall Pass” — has taken the female lead in the upcoming horror flick. This “reimagining,” which apparently follows the events of Tobe Hooper‘s films (not that anyone will care to connect the dots), will be directed by “Takers” dude John Luessenhop, who is no stranger to directing third rate versions of much better films. Adam Marcus (“Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday“) and Debra Sullivan penned the screenplay.
Filming kicks off in Shreveport, Lousiana later this month, seemingly the home of every other movie shot in Hollywood these days. It will hit theaters on October 5, 2012.
