Rian Johnson Under The SkinWe may only be halfway through the decade but it’s safe to say that Jonathan Glazer’s “Under the Skin” will rank as one of the best films of the 2010s. While it’s typically classified as a sci-fi film, it also works as a portrait of a character discovering their humanity in addition to being one of the most disturbing films in recent years. It is a unique filmgoing experience that has even ensnared “Looper” director Rian Johnson, who was tapped by BFI to introduce a recent screening.

Confessing to having seen Glazer’s film four times in theaters, the future “Star Wars: Episode VIII” director absolutely gushes over the film, calling it one of the few modern films that could qualify for the pantheon of all-time greats. The other modern films on Johnson’s list? Terrence Malick’s “The Tree of Life” and Paul Thomas Anderson’s “There Will Be Blood,” as well as “The Master.” Not a bad company to be in.
