Welcome to "Dracula Untold," with the emphasis on the last word, because this is the bloodsucker epic you haven’t seen, and Universal hopes that this new take on Vlad will kick off a new franchise.
Set to open next month, the promo machine is rolling with a first clip (via Metro) and a new TV spot. The sequence highlights the uselessness of monsters in a world where men no longer fear each other, which is actually a pretty compelling idea. So snark aside, here’s hoping director Gary Shore delivers some thematic potential in this movie, which sees Vlad make a deal with the devil to spare his son from an oncoming war but at a very high cost.
