Watch: Flirty Fashion Short Film With 'Blue Is The Warmest Color' Star Léa Seydoux

Lea Seydoux

French actress Léa Seydoux is on everyone’s radar thanks to her performance in “Blue is the Warmest Color,” the three-hour long lesbian drama that won the coveted Palm d’Or at Cannes this past summer (it’s being released, in all of its NC-17 glory, this fall). If your taste runs to slightly more conventional fare, you might remember her from terrific work in Woody Allen‘s “Midnight in Paris” or Brad Bird‘s “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.” While waiting for “Blue is the Warmest Color,” you can watch a flirty black-and-white fashion short film starring the French actress made for super cool New York fashion house Rag & Bone. Seydoux doesn’t do much in the clip besides stomp around New York looking adorable, but sometimes that’s enough.

The short (which you can watch below) was directed by photographer-turned-director Glen Luchford, and has a playful, “Frances Ha” vibe, with Seydoux’s short hair and blazer combo giving a look of urban sophistication that still conveys fun. There’s a moment when she’s out in the rain that is absolutely transfixing and the overall mood is much different than the ad/short film hybrids she made earlier this year for Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola, which featured the actress as Candy, a woman caught between two dapper men (the ad was for the Prada Candy fragrance). Whereas Coppola and Anderson went for goofy retro charm, Luchford goes for smoky sensuality; with Seydoux neither is a bad thing.

Seydoux has a number of exciting projects in the works, including “Brotherhood of the Wolf” director Christophe Gans‘ take on “Beauty & the Beast” (where she’ll star alongside Gans regular Vincent Cassel) and Wes Anderson‘s sprawling next film, “The Grand Budapest Hotel.

“Blue is the Warmest Color” will be released on October 25th. No kids allowed.
