Watch: New Trailer For 'Dad's Army' Goes On Patrol With Catherine Zeta-Jones, Bill Nighy, Toby Jones, And More

Dad's ArmyHow deep you roll with classic British television comedies will likely weigh on how much interest you have in "Dad’s Army." It’s the big screen, semi-star studded take on the series which ran in the late ’60s and ’70s, and there’s no doubt that the humor is in a very particularly English strain. But if you vibe with it, then it looks like the movie will deliver.

Bill Nighy, Catherine Zeta Jones, Toby Jones, Daniel Mays, Michael Gambon, Bill Paterson and Tom Courtenay suit up for the Oliver Parker ("Johnny English Reborn") directed movie which finds laughs as World War II is closing out, and a bumbling contingent of the home guard have to find a spy in their midst. Here’s the official synopsis:

It is 1944 and World War II is reaching its climax. The Allies are poised to invade France and finally defeat the German army. But in Walmington-on-Sea morale amongst the Home Guard is low. Their new mission then – to patrol the Dover army base – is a great chance to revive spirits and reputation, that is until glamorous journalist Rose Winters arrives to write about their exploits, setting the pulses racing and putting the local women on red alert. MI5 then discover a radio signal sent direct to Berlin from Walmington-on-Sea. There’s a spy on the loose! The outcome of the war is suddenly at stake, and it falls to our unlikely heroes to stand up and be counted.

Again, this may not be your cup of tea, and frankly, I wouldn’t be too surprised if it doesn’t wind up hitting screens stateside. "Dad’s Army" opens in the U.K. on February 5, 2016.
