Watch: Ridley Scott's 'Exodus: Gods And Kings' With Christian Bale & Joel Edgerton Rides Into Action With New Trailer

blankMoses “was a very troubled, tumultuous and mercurial man. But the biggest surprise was the nature of God. He was equally very mercurial,” Christian Bale recently told press (via Jewish Journal) about the character he plays in Ridley Scott‘s "Exodus: Gods And Kings." The director has another assessment of the man who parted the Red Sea: “Moses is the incarnation of freedom.” The question is which Moses will appear in the forthcoming blockbuster? Well, let’s find out.

A brand new trailer for the holiday film has arrived today. Running over two hours long, and either garish or opulent or both, Fox certainly isn’t sparing the spectacle in the film, but whether it comes at the cost of accuracy remains to be seen. And when it comes to box office success, Fox will be hoping that religious audiences will respond to Scott’s take on the movie, while also crossing their fingers that general audiences, who maybe don’t know Moses from Jesus, will be drawn in by the action. Here’s the official synopsis:

From acclaimed director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus) comes the epic adventure EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS, the story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Christian Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharoah Ramses (Joel Edgerton), setting 400,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

"Exodus: Gods And Kings" opens on December 12th. Watch below along with four new TV spots.
