Oscar season is over, which means it's going to largely be tentpoles from now until the end of the summer. But if you're craving something without CGI or explosions and that has real characters, you'll still have a few options on hand. One of them will be Lasse Hallström's "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen," and with the film opening in just over a week, we want to send some lucky readers to advance screenings around the country.
But first, a little background. Starring Emily Blunt and Ewan McGregor with a script from "Slumdog Millionaire" scribe Simon Beaufoy, the film tells the story of a scientist (McGregor) who’s brought to Yemen to help introduce salmon to the Highland waters of the country, but winds up falling for the aide (Blunt) of the sheik who hires him. The film premiered at TIFF last fall and received warm notices, and should be a nice spring antidote to the special effects-driven multiplex fare.
For readers in Boston, Chicago, LA, NYC, Philadelphia and San Francisco — we've got 20 double passes per screening for the dates below. So how can you win? Email us your full name, what city you're from, along with the name of the author who wrote the book the film is based on. Good luck! "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" opens on March 9th.
