What happens when reality intrudes on a well-intentioned dream? “Song Sung Blue” tells the true story of a cover band hoping to cash in on their musical ambitions. The pair, who eventually marry, find themselves facing misfortune. Still, their hopes seem to overrule every problem. It’s not the first time this Neil Diamond tribute band’s life has made it to the big screen. Mike and Claire Sardina’s story was chronicled in Greg Kohs’ 2008 documentary of the same name.

‘Blue’ hails from “Dolemite Is My Name” filmmaker Craig Brewer. The director first garnered critical praise with his 2005 film “Hustle & Flow,” which won an Academy Award for Best Original Song. This time, Brewer takes on writing, directing, and producing duties. Other producers on the upcoming project include John Davis and John Fox.
Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson star as the Sardinas. Jackman is a versatile performer, starring in blockbuster films while also maintaining a presence on Broadway with shows such as “The Boy from Oz.” Hudson’s filmography includes the music-centric drama “Almost Famous” and the cinematic adaptation of the musical “Nine.” Other notable names in ‘Blue’ include Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens, Jim Belushi, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, and Hudson Hilbert Hensley.

“Based on a true story, two down-on-their-luck musicians (Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson) form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band, proving it’s never too late to find love and follow your dreams.”
