What is going on inside New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital? A patient is about to find out in “The Terror: Devil in Silver.” The series follows Pepper, a man who is involuntarily committed. What he discovers in New Hyde raises questions about the doctors, fellow patients, and supernatural possibilities. ‘Silver’ hails from Chris Cantwell and Victor LaValle, the pair acting as writers and showrunners on the project. The series is an adaptation of LaValle’s novel of the same name. Karyn Kusama directs the first two episodes.
Dan Stevens leads the outstanding cast as Pepper. Judith Light, CCH Pounder, Aasif Mandvi, John Benjamin Hickey, Stephen Root, Michael Aronov, Marin Ireland, Chinaza Uche, Hampton Fluker, b, Hayward Leach, and Philip Ettinger also star.

The limited series’ official synopsis:
“Dan Stevens (Abigail, Downton Abbey), who also serves as executive producer, stars as Pepper – a working-class moving man who, through a combination of bad luck and a bad temper, finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital – an institution filled with those society would rather forget. There, he must contend with patients working against him, doctors harboring grim secrets, and perhaps even the Devil himself. As Pepper navigates a hellscape where nothing is as it seems, he finds that the only path to freedom is to face the entity which thrives on the suffering within New Hyde’s walls – but doing so may prove that the worst demons of all live inside him.”
Ridley Scott serves as executive producer on “The Terror: Devil in Silver.” The limited series premieres May 7 on AMC+ and Shudder. Additional episodes arrive weekly. Watch the trailer below.
