‘Bunnylovr’ Trailer: Cam Girl Drama From Director/Star Katarina Zhu & Featuring Rachel Sennott Hits Theaters April 10

Can online connections ever match our personal relationships? A cam girl struggles to find something meaningful in “Bunnylovr.” Rebecca attempts to be relevant as the number of online sex workers grows. Desperate to establish something real, she scours the internet for worthwhile relationships. Her quest is hindered when an ailing father reenters her life. What follows is a meaningful exploration of our social connections and humanity’s place in a digital world.

Bunnylovr” hails from writer and director Katarina Zhu. This is the first feature directorial effort for Zhu, who also stars as Rebecca. The multihyphenate’s film delves into the chemistry of friendships, something reflected in her own life. “I mean, particularly my female friendships are the most enduring and nourishing and most sustainable, too,” Zhu told Interview Magazine. “Those are the ones that last.”

The film’s official synopsis, courtesy of Uptopia:

“A drifting, Chinese-American cam girl struggles to navigate an increasingly toxic relationship with one of her clients while rekindling her relationship with her estranged, dying father.”

Zhu puts together an impressive cast for the project. Rachel Sennott co-stars as Rebecca’s best friend, additionally serving as co-producer on the film. Sennott is herself a versatile writer, director, and actress. Her performance in “Shiva Baby” helped establish Sennott as a critically acclaimed talent. Austin Amelio, Perry Yung, and Jack Kilmer round out the cast of “Bunnylovr.” Viewers will recognize Amelio from his role as Dwight on “Fear the Walking Dead.” He can also be seen in the upcoming horror comedy “Family Movie.”
